What is Opening Doors PTA?
Opening Doors PTA is a district wide special services PTA serving children and families living in the Belmont Redwood Shores School District and beyond. Opening Doors PTA is a not for profit (c)501 organization and our mission is to focus on supporting the special services family through education, sharing of resources, creating awareness of special services concerns in our community.
Who runs Opening Doors PTA?
Opening Doors PTA was formed by a group of dedicated volunteers. We hope to bring positive change to our children's education in collaboration with other parent groups in the San Francisco Bay Area.
How do I become a member?
We welcome anyone living in Belmont, Redwood Shores and beyond. Membership fee is $10 per individual and $15 for a family of two for the entire school year. Simply come to one of our meetings or send a check to Attn: Opening Doors PTA, 2960 Hallmark Drive, Belmont, CA 94002. Please also note your email address and we will add you onto our online discussion group.
Where are the meetings held?
We typically meet on the first Wed. evening of the month at the Belmont Redwood Shores School District office, 2960 Hallmark Drive, Belmont, CA 94002. Meeting begins promptly at 6:30pm and adjourns at 8pm. Certain meetings are held at the local school sites as we may need to secure a room to accomodate a large number of attendees for our guest speaker presentations. Please refer to our calendar of events page for a list of scheduled activities.
Do I have to become a member to attend a guest presentation?
We have an open door policy to welcome anyone interested in children's education. Your membership and involvement in our PTA are much appreciated. If; however, you choose not to become a member and would like to attend one of our speaker presenations, we ask that you help us offset the cost by donating $5/presentation.
How can I help Opening Doors PTA?
There are many ways to get involved. You can choose to give to our PTA by volunteering few hours a month, hold a position to help us run the PTA, participate in meetings and presentations, donate to support our cause and much much more. Click on how you can help for more information.
How are the funds spent?
The money we raise goes to offsetting the cost of running the PTA, securing guest speakers, providing staff enrichment, purchasing supplies, materials and specialized software, and more. Operating expense is about 5% of our expenditure and the rest of the money goes to help our PTA to fulfill our mission to directly addressing the needs of our children.
